ASHI has sponsored one fellow to attend the International Summer School (ISS) This year, ASHI past-president John Gerlach and I will join faculty members representing EFI (European Federation on Immunogenetics) and APHIA (Asian-Pacific Histocompatibility and Immunology Association) to present an intensive three-day course This year ISS will be held in Ayutthaya, Thailand, Oct 7-10, at the Krungsri River Hotel CHS/CHT study guide. The Technologists Affairs Committee created a CHS/CHT study guide Once it's complete, this guide will be announced on the ASHI news page and in ASHI Insights and will be housed on the ABHI page within the ASHI site Joint AST-ASHI Pre-Meeting Symposium at ATC 2016, June 11-15, 2016 in Boston. A proposal was submitted by Drs Anat Tambur and Trish Campbell on ASHI's behalf This proposal was approved with minor revisions by the Program Chair Joint TTS-ASHI Workshop at TTS 2016 in Hong Kong. Following Medhat Askar's initial contact with The Transplant Society (TTS), a joint workshop session will be held at the TTS congress in Hong Kong in 2016 Discussions will be facilitated by experienced directors from ASHI, APHIA, EFI, and HKSHI FDA Workshop — Surrogate Endpoints for Clinical Trials in Kidney Transplantation. Dr Tambur received an invitation on behalf of the Division of Transplant and Ophthalmology Products at FDA to participate in a one-day FDA workshop to be held Monday, Sept 28, in Arlington, Virginia The workshop is being planned by FDA with input from a planning committee that includes representation from the following transplant societies: American Society of Transplantation, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplant Society, and the European Society of Transplantation The workshop will focus on several conditions important to long-term outcomes in patients, including medical non-adherence, subclinical injury and protocol biopsy, the highly sensitized patient, and de novo Donor Specific Antibodies (DSAs) Overall, this past summer has been full of progress on many fronts and ASHI continues to be fiscally sound I have a great appreciation for all the hard work performed by the ASHI Board and Committee Members I am also very grateful for the tremendous support I have received from ASHI staff and many colleagues Congratulations to our newly elected members: Dr Michael Gautreaux, President-Elect; Walter Herczyk, Treasurer; and Linda S Buckert, Board of Directors I look forward to continuing serving ASHI under the leadership of our new President, Dr Anat Tambur, Board members, and other colleague members toward implementing our new strategic plan during next quarter and through next year I look forward to seeing you at our 41 st Annual ASHI Meeting in Savannah, Georgia, Monday, Sept 28–Friday, Oct 2, 2015 The Program Planning Committee (PPC) led by John Gerlach has put together a very exciting program including Workshop – Round Table Topics devoted to those new to the field, two poster receptions, and an afternoon free for socializing with colleagues in the charming southern atmosphere of Savannah With warm regards, Malek Kamoun, MD, PhD Overall this past summer has been full of progress on many fronts and ASHI continues to be fiscally sound.
